Evidence-Based

Evidence-based practice in psychology (EBPP) is the integration of the best available research with clinical expertise in the context of patient characteristics, culture, and preferences.

Accredited

Our practitioners are accredited to deliver evidence-based programs such as Triple P and Circle of Security. Practitioners will deliver the programs competently and successfully in the community.

Cost Effective

Many agencies have invested in accredited training and then experienced the loss of their investment when staff resigned. PPAO has dedicated experienced practitioners that will deliver programs directly to your clients.

Who We Are

Positive Parenting Association Ontario (PPAO) is a non-profit organization that supports the work of front-line agencies by delivering evidence-based, practical training to families throughout the province of Ontario.

How It Works

Contact us to share your vision and we'll work together to create a program that suits your needs and budget. Our programs can be brought to your clients virtually, in person, in large or small groups or one-on-one. We offer 2 hour topic-specific sessions, as well as intensive programs for parents going through separation or divorce, parents of children with anxiety disorders and special needs, and more.

Triple P

Triple P gives parents simple and practical strategies to help them build strong and healthy relationships, confidently manage their children’s behaviour and prevent problems from developing. Triple P is used in more than 30 countries and has been shown to work across cultures, socio-economic groups and family structures.

Circle of Security

The COS Network provides an evidence-based intervention program for parents and children that focuses on relationships. The Network serves families suffering from disrupted relationships, complex trauma, and attachment difficulties due to developmental issues, reactive attachment disorder, and maltreatment.

Our History

PPAO was established as a not-for-profit agency on July 16, 2019. We evolved out of working as co-chairs of an Ontario Network of service providers and our desire to fill the gaps that exist in Ontario in terms of the availability of evidence-based parenting support. Our "Aha!" moment came as a result of 15 years of collaboration with agencies and the passion they have for Parenting Education. We wanted to safeguard and support agencies that lost their funding sources for parenting education. We serve any agency in Ontario that supports the healthy development of children and families.

Our Mission

Positive Parenting Association Ontario enhances the capacity for service providers, parents, and communities to work together towards positive parenting outcomes for all children, youth and families.

The single most important thing we can do to prevent serious behavioral and emotional problems and abuse of children is to help parents in the most important job in the world: raising the next generation.
